The
philosophy and goal of the CAIC program is to provide intervention and
assessment to children ages 4 -17 who have been identified as being
at-risk for substance abuse and other behavioral health problems.
This program is designed to intervene with at-risk youth before
they engage in behaviors that can lead to a life of addiction, emotional
disturbance, and criminal behavior. The
length of services provided may vary depending on the individual needs of
the client. Some clients will
need only assessment and referral services, others may participate in
intervention services which typically last for 4-6 months.
HSA works with other community providers to coordinate all services
and to prevent duplication of services across the service delivery system.
In past years, the CAIC has partnered with the Florida Council on
Compulsive Gambling to provide certification training for professionals
who treat people with gambling addiction.
The CAIC has also been awarded a fourth year of the “Health
Rocks” grant program that trains teens to be mentors and positive role
models for their peers.
